I am fortunate to experience such beautiful creations through the works of superbly talented architects and equally-driven owners. They have, within themselves, the impetus to aspire to create such heroic architecture.
I love beauty and appreciate it for its own sake. My family loves to surround ourselves with beauty. It is part of who we are. Though many of my projects dwarf our quaint home, to us beauty is not about cost, size, status or brand. We appreciate the thing, whether high-end or a junk street find. In terms of our business, we feel privileged just to be part of the creation of such man-built beauty, and for that we are grateful.
Take for example this infinity pool in Kaufman deep water blue mosaic. Owning such a pool would certainly be on anyone’s list of life’s goals. Who would not want one? But for now, I am happy knowing that through my efforts, I have helped bring into being such a world class creation.
My business to most, might be considered mundane. A stone supplier that deals in rocks and dirt. Not your cup to tea perhaps. To me, that where I get my happiness. I am blissfully trapped in my eternal child’s fantasy world of playing with rocks. That has been my dream since I was a small child. I gladly get my hands dirty with marble dust, brave through the heat and traffic and don’t I see these as discomforting or a sacrifice. I consider my actions as a contribution to the beauty of the Philippines. I truly love the Philippines. I am not here because I have no choice, like most people. I decided to come back from England and stay. Honestly, most see dirt and poverty. I only see beauty.
When I reflect on the joy our work has brought to the families who enjoy our creations or materials, no matter how minor my place is in the scheme of things, I am satisfied.
My architectural fantasies are vicariously fulfilled through my passion-filled clients, and for that I am humbled and very grateful.
